Making the most of a small ground floor office space in Advantis’ Executive office in Milwaukie, Oregon, SUM created a linear bank of office modules to house the company’s growing real estate group. With zebra-wood paneling juxtaposed with clean white surfaces and splashes of bold color, the space clearly falls into the language of design that SUM and Advantis have been forging over the years. Recessed fixtures and selective use of decorative pendant lighting complete the experience by taking a delicately restrained approach to lighting the space. Spatially, a long row of enclosed offices with furnishings by Kimball Office oppose open partitioned workspaces, with sliding glass doors allowing a user-controlled level of interaction in between. The proximity between spaces and simple layout fosters a level of operational efficiency that has been used as a model in other office spaces by the company.
