L1 Residence
Featured in Dwell magazine, this project began with a modest 1942 Cape Cod, introverted and spatially limited.
SUM reimagined it as a bold, light-filled urban home that honors its origins while embracing modern living. Portions of the original foundation and site were preserved, giving rise to a new two-story form clad in natural cedar, vertical siding, and crisp white finishes. Large, strategically placed windows draw light deep into the home, while a recessed entry and layered landscaping balance openness and privacy.
What once was a quiet Cape Cod is now a confident, efficient, and expressive home that sits comfortably in its evolving neighborhood.
