Living Room Reality

For Living Room Realty’s new headquarters, SUM restored and enhanced a 1950s-era office building, creating a space that celebrates its midcentury character while meeting modern standards.

The 7,500-square-foot renovation preserved original materials—concrete, wood siding, stained glass, and aluminum sun screens while updating interiors with wood, concrete, and carpet finishes.

The design retained the building’s integrity through a sympathetic approach, removing decades of unsympathetic alterations and ensuring full ADA accessibility. Completed in winter 2020 with contractor Deform and structural partner Hayden Engineering, the revitalized space reflects Living Room Realty’s inclusive, community-focused identity.
